Ideology
My magazine and the text within it will push the ideas of youth and feminity. It will also push the ideas of being and independant female without feeling the need to follow the crowd and cave in to peer pressure. Also my magazine has no racial discrimination and i want to get the idea accross to my audience that everyone is equal and we work together as a society. These are my dominant ideologies and i have chosen not to go for any alternative ones as these will contridct the ones i have chosen. Hopefully my magazine would be sold all over the country and maybe even go global so i can send these ideologies out.
Representation
In my media text there will be one protagonist as she is an new artist and she will be the main feature of my music magazine and my double page spread will be based on her and her new music. The costumes i will but my artist in will fit my genere of 'Pop' and fit in with the rest of my magazine. There will by many images of my chracter to make it interesting and so my target audience can relateto them. My protagonists, you could say will be a stereotype as people have different views on what people should wear when thinking about different music genres and my artist will be stereotypically wearing 'glamourous' clothes., this also shows my protagonists chracteristics which i benefit from as it may draw people in fron different groups and genres.

Walter Lippmann "stereotypes are an expression of our values and beliefs"
He came up with four functions of stereotypes:
- That stereotypes are shortcuts for journalists.
- That they are an ordering process.
- That they are a map of the world so people can associate different places with different stereotypes.
- That stereotypes are an expression of our values and beliefs.
Narrative
My magazine will follow the typical narrative structure because audiences enjoy having a typical 'house style' that they are familar with and comfortable with therefore they will not reject it. I don't think i will break any of the narrative structure rules to ensure no rejection. There is also the question of people not liking my genre of music, however 'Pop' is a very large genre and i am sure many people will like it. I may be limiting msyelf by sticking to one particular genre but as i said 'Pop' is a vast genere so i don't think i willl be losing out greatly. My front cover, contents page and double page spread will follow the typical narrative structure of direct address from the model, large headings and smaller sub headings. I will also be using strap lines in my music magazines. Strap lines are quite common in music magazines but they are not always used. Sticking to these familiar narratives that the audience feels comfortable with entices them and draws them in to read on.

Music Video - Ideas for Artist
This is a video of Alexandra Burke. I chose this video as it is the same genre as my music magazine. I think this video is within the same age range as i am aiming for. The whole image of Alexandra Burke in this video really inspired me as i think its a little quirky yet very stylish, like my artist.
Pictures
Here are some of the images i took when doing my photoshoot. Some have been edited since and others haven't. I won't be using all these images in my music magazine.
Questionnaire - Audience Research
Here is an example of my questionnaire. When conducting this research i found that quite a lot of the people who filled out my questionnaire didnt really buy music magazine or don't anymore! I think this may be because music magazines may be a dying trade, as information is easily accessable from the interent and the TV etc. I also found that the most common genre of music that people listen to is POP. This may be becasue it is the most advertised genre and new artists keep bringing out more and more POP, it could also be to do with the area i live in and that people in my area my listen to more POP. Another thing i found was that people are not willing to spend a lot of money on music magaiznes, and personally i wouldn't want to either as information can be found freely all over the internet.
Fonts and Colour Scheme

I decided to use very bright colours throughout my magzine to make it attractive and so it stands out to my audience. There are 2 colours that are dominant throughtout my magaizne and they are bright pink and purple! I chose to do this so it is easily recognisable and so it creates a house style for my audience.
Costumes and Props
Costume:
I have decided to keep my model in the sane costume yet have her in very different poses which will make each shot look very different. I want my model to be in a dress that is a bright colour that stands out and very fashionable! Maybe in a sequin dress or a flower patterned dress!
Location:
My shots will be taken in a bedroom with lots of balloons and fun things surrounding my model! I like the idea of my artist to be blowing bubbles and looking fun and exciting! I will pose her so she looks fun in some pictures yet serious about her work in others! After all she is trying to promote her work!

Featured Article - Rough Draft
Her upbeat songs have got herself known worldwide. With two No.1 singles under her belt, Tanya Marie has really hit the pop charts with a storm. She’s been called the Sound of 2009 and she’s about to embark on her first UK tour. Here we get the chance to find out about the pop sensation and learn about the real Tanya Marie.
Q. You have a new single coming out, Shout Out Loud! You’ve already had two No.1s, are you hoping for a hat trick?
A. I wouldn’t say I was expecting a third No.1 ‘cause that would just be big headed, but it would be nice yeah. I would find it a huge achievement. Really I just want people to buy and enjoy my music.
Q. Are you excited about your tour of the UK, which will be starting on 4th January 2010?
A. I am really, really excited. I can’t wait it’s going to be so much fun! We have tried to plan some exciting stuff and a few little surprises which I hope the crowd will enjoy.
Q. Can you tell us what these surprises are?
A. No can do, sorry! You’ll have to wait and see!
Q. You have been one of the biggest female acts this year! Where are all the males? Do you think we will have more male talent next year?
A. I think it would be nice if some new male artists did emerge. I think we need more men like Calvin Harris; he’s been my favourite male artist this year. I think the key is to find a genuine talented guy, none of these cheesy little boys like JLS, who look like they haven’t even started puberty yet!
Q. So you I guess you don’t like the JLS boys then?
A. Ha-ha! I’m sure they are lovely guys (said with a sarcastic face!) but they are just too cheesy for me. I feel like turning around and just saying come on lads grow a pair.
Q. When or what event led you to decide to create music?
A. There has never been a single event. Ever since I was little I have always enjoyed music and I used to sing in the talent competitions at school and bop around on stage. So I guess I have always known I wanted to be a singer and perform, it makes me happy.
Q. Who is your influence and what do you enjoying listening to (apart from your own tracks)?
A. I love Whitney Huston’s voice, but I presume everyone says that, I just think she was and still is amazing. Also people like Beyonce are amazing, I love listening to people who have a meaningful voice are who are truly talented. I don’t really listen to my own tracks, obviously I listen to them a few times but I’m not one of those people who only listen to there own music, my Mum is though, every time I go round she has one of my songs on and busting some JT’s moves!!
Q. Have your parents been supportive then?
A. O God yeah! Amazingly so! I have a really musical family so they were ecstatic when I told what I wanted to do. When they heard about my No.1s they nearly keeled over.
Q. Do you have a personal favourite track for you newly released album, Knock Out?
A. It’s hard to pick just one track as there are so many good ones on there and I love performing them all. But if I HAD to choose I would have to say Pink. I love this songs as it means a lot to me and I get to where a beautiful dress when I perform it!!!
Q. Are you getting used to being famous yet?
A. Ha-ha! There’s not being a moment where I have just thought ‘Hey, I’m famous!’ I am just taking each day as it comes, I’m always so busy so I don’t really have time to think about “being famous”! I’m just me, I haven’t changed at all since I became known, just little old me!
Q. Have you had any embarrassing Pop Star moments?
A. I was coming out of a club and the paparazzi where there and the lights off the cameras where so bright I was blinded. To try and get away I ran towards the limo and ran straight into the door. I was slightly under the influence so it wasn’t I great look, flat on my back with my knickers in the air.
Q. What can fans expect from your new album, Knock Out?
A. There are lots of great new tracks on there which I hoping everyone will like. There are also a few slower tracks which are different to my usual style, I’m a bit nervous about them but they are good, meaningful songs so hopefully people will relate to them and like them.

Mock Up - Main Article

This is a mock up of my main article! Looking back at this it looks a little boring and normal! So i have decided to make one of my pictures stand out and dominate the article to make it look more interesting and grab the readers attention! I will also included one or two smaller images to make the article look my fun! I have decided to use Q and A's in my article asking controversioal and personal questions! I will also split the collums up by using text grabs by quoting rude of funny things from the text! My title will be eyecatching and to the point! I will aslo add funny puns and humour into my text.
Mock Up - Contents

Orginally i wanted my contents page to be a copy of my front cover and have
arrows coming of it, this idea goes against the typical conventions of a contents page! Eventually i decided against this idea as i felt that it wouldnt look right and look abit messy! So i have decided for my contents page to have a block of 4 images with the page numbers included on them, this will increase grazing! Again as typical of magazines my images will dominate the test! It will be brightly couloured but i will not be colouring the background as i am not afraid of using the white space! The title will appear at the top and there will be lists of contents agreeing with the typically conevention of a magazine contents! I will also put my contents into sections such as music, regulars, competions etc so the reader can go straight to there favouritre section! Overall my contents will be fun and eye catching!
Mock Up - Cover

Here is a mock up of my front page! I have included the name of my magazine at the top 'Jukebox' and the colour scheme i will be using throughtout my work which is the strong and vibrant pink and purple! This is also the font i will be using for my title etc. I have included 5 other subheadings of what i think will grab the readers attention - in my final version i will move around the sub headings and make it look more appealing b6to the audience! I have also included the magazines website at the bottom of the page and 'Tour dates for 2010' whioch always intrest readers! I have also reasonabley priced my magazine at £1.40 as i am aiming my magazine to be a weekly one not just a monthly one! As my magazine is slightly hybrid i have added some of my headings to be gossip and fashion for example 'Which pop princess has been spotted with bad boy Eminem?' and ' 10 ways to get the popstar look'! My main article is dominating the front page with interesting sub headings around it! By having the sub headings on different topics i think is widening my audience and intresting more readers. My finished front cover will have the main picture covering the whole page not just in the middle! I also have a sub heading under the main title which says 'Bringing the latest pop music to you'! I think my mock of my main cover is following the typical conventions of a front cover as it includes pretty much everything!
Moodboard

I have created a moodboard to gather different ideas form different magazines! I have gathered fonts, pictures, colour schemes and poses etc! I think the ideas on my moodboard fit in with the genre i want my music magazine to be, POP! I want my artist and my pictures to be fun, happy and with lots of clour to attract the audiences attention. I am intending to pick out some of the bright coulours on my moodboard and impose them on my artist and my pictures! The colour scheme i have chosen and wish to use in very bright and stands out like the bright greens, pinks and yellows! I have thought about the use of mis en scene and have looked at differnt idea of what props i could use and how to pose my model! On my moodboard i particularly like the red haierd model and the props they have used! I think the picture is very eye catching and quirky! Quite alot of my fonts on my moodboard are bold, simple and clear! I think my audience will like this as there will be no confusion as to what something says and will be easy to read!
Research - Music Magazine (Main Article)

This Main Article is fitting in with the genre that i want to use with my magazine. Clearly there is one main picture that dominates the page and i wish to do this aswell! The article is set out into collums which i feel that makes it easier and more clear for the audience to read! The title is snappy and eyecatching and has subheading underneath which is agreeing with the typical convention of featured articles! Like any convention of the main article the artist is usually doing it to promote their work and this article on LADY GAGA is no different! My article will be Q and A's talking about my artists work and their personal life too! My main article like this one will target the POP genre and audience.

This is another example of a main article! It is very different to the one above as it hardly has any colour in it! This is targetting at a different genre maybe more rock or punk! Text grabs are used to intrigue the reader and pick out controversioal/rude issues in the text! There is one main picture which dominates one page! Especially in this main article the person who created this was not afraid of using white space, i think i will take on this idea as too much colour can look a little tacky and over crowded!
Research - Music Magazine (Contents)

Contents pages are just as important as the front page! It is very important to keep the colours flowing through the front cover and the contents, as throughout the whole magazine! The idea of contents pages is to capture the best and most exciting articles and place them on the contents page! This makes the readers want to carry on as the best bits are shown to them to intrigue them. Contents pages are also a good way to adevrtise and promote competions. This works well as it draws people in and attracts a wider audience. Without contents pages people would get bored of flicking through the whole magazine to find the article they want to read therefore the contents page creates easier access to articles and competions for the audience.
This Contents Page has similar ideas to the one above yet it is targetted at a totally different genre! I personally don't like this contents as i feel it is a little to heavy and the colours are a little dull! Although it proves that the contents very much changeds to the genre of the music! In this contents poage the pictures dominate the text which allows for 'grazing'! I imagine for this genre this contents page will intrigue the reader! Not all the pictures are of direct address which goes against the convention. There is a list of contents and the title is at the top of the page which agrees with the convention. My conents page is going to be more like the first one i researched!
Research - Music Magazines (Cover)

I have decided to create a Music mgazine under the genre of POP! This magazine cover follows the typical conventions of a music magazine! The image fits the content of the music and of the target audience which i think is POP/HIP HOP and of females aged 13-17! The name of the magfazine is in bold at the top and has the right style of font to fit with the genre! The colour scheme is also very important and i will think about this in detail when i produce my magazine as i want it to fit with my target audience! When thinking about your target audience it is helpful to use GRASS! When thinking about GRASS and applying it to this front cover i would say that the Gender is Female, Race is mainstream: there's no exclusion with any race, Age is 13- 17 and Socio -economic Status is B to E! The audience that i am aiming to target with my magazine is the same as this! The socio-economic status comes form the socio-economic scale related to demographic profiling and my magazine will be group B - E which ranges from itermediate managerial places to the unskilled and unemployed! When thinking about psychographic profiling this magazine cover and mine will be targeted at mainstreamers which is 40% of the market and this comes from Young and Rubicam's Cross-cultural Comsumer Chracteristics! Relating to Maslow's Hierarchy of needs i think this magazine cover and mine will come under belonging needs or love/belonging as these are social needs. This cover ahas a lot going on on the front page which makes the reader intrigued and want to read on! The main picture is also of direct address!
